By 2025, the way Parisians get around will change with the launch of Cable 1, the first urban cable car in Paris. The fantastic new 4.5 kilometer line will connect the southeastern suburbs of the city to the metro system, namely Villeneuve-Saint-Georges with Créteil Pointe du Lac station on line 8 of the Paris metro. This scenic mode of transportation will also be incredibly beneficial for daily commuters. The journey will be completed in just 17 minutes, less than half the time of the same bus journey. According to French newspaper Le Parisien, construction will begin later this year. Let’s see the renders:
The splendid project under construction with an investment of more than 150 million dollars will be led by the architecture studio Atelier Schall. Experts in the field such as the cable car and ski lift manufacturer Doppelmayr France, the French transport company Île-de-France Mobilités, the construction companies Spie Batignolles and Egis Rail are also part of the team.
In total, this cabled line, 4.5 kilometers long, will have five stations in Créteil, Limeil-Brévannes, Valenton and Villeneuve-Saint-Georges.
The line will feature 33 Y- and V-shaped towers, with each cabin comfortably seating ten passengers. This will allow nearly 1,600 people to travel per hour during peak hours.
“Public transport in Île-de-France, the Regions of Île-de-France and the Department of Val-de-Marne decided in 2016 to equip themselves with a new innovative tool for public transport solutions which offered Ile-de-France residents the first line of urban transport by cable car in the region on their network”, declared the general manager of IDF Mobilités Laurent Probst to Dezeen.
An estimated 11,000 people will soar between 82ft and 131ft a day as ‘Cable 1’ flies over the suburbs.
A first in Paris, each station will have only one floor and will be 100% accessible to all passengers.
