
Another person, a woman, fell on Tuesday while being rescued by an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter in Jharkhand’s Deoghar during the rescue operation which was necessitated after dozens of people have been stranded following a cable car accident.
This is the second incident of a person falling during the Deoghar Cable Car rescue operation. The rescue operation took a tragic turn on Monday when a man fell to his death just before he could jump on the rescue helicopter. Horrifying footage of the incident has gone viral on the internet.
In the second fall incident during a rescue operation on Tuesday, the woman is believed to have fallen while being lowered to the ground from a beached cable car. The condition of the woman is not yet known.
Stunning footage of the rescue operations that lasted more than 40 hours flooded the internet. According to the latest information, the rescue operation has been completed and all those stranded after the cable car collision incident have been rescued.
The risky rescue operation involved two Indian Air Force helicopters and dozens of officials.
The cable car crash on Trikut Hill in Deoghar happened on Sunday when two cabins collided, killing two and 48 others stranded in the air. The toll, however, rose to three after the tragedy of Monday’s rescue operation.
According to available information, a total of 57 tourists were stranded in the Deoghar Trikut cable car. Among them, 11 people were rescued on Sunday, 32 on Monday and 14 on Tuesday.
The deaths of three people, two women and a man, have been officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has promised a fair investigation into the matter. He tweeted: “The rescue operation for passengers stranded at the Trikut cable car is finally over. Teams from NDRF, ITBP and Air Force were involved in carrying out the op. Our priority was to save lives, 2 people died in this incident. A fair investigation will be conducted.”
